Give Through Your IRA or Donate Stocks
Give Through Your IRA
Investing in stocks and mutual funds protects your future—and StoryCorps’ too—when you make a sustaining tax-free gift from your IRA. How it works:
- Donors age 70½ and older may transfer up to $100,000 directly from IRAs to qualified charities, including StoryCorps.
- The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a federal tax deduction, so donors who do not itemize their tax deductions can benefit.
- The IRA charitable rollover gift satisfies all or part of the required minimum distribution requirement.
If you would like to make a gift, please ask your IRA administrator to forward your gift to:
StoryCorps

If you need assistance, please contact the Development team at [email protected] or 646.723.7020 ext. 2108.
Give a Gift of Stock
Gifts of stock provide an important source of funding to StoryCorps and substantial tax benefits to donors. If you are interested, please see our instructions and notify us of your gift. For information on how to make your donation to StoryCorps via wire transfer, please contact the Development team at 646.723.7020 ext. 2108 or [email protected].
Gifts of publicly traded securities
Gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, and mutual-fund shares owned for more than one year can be transferred to StoryCorps and may provide significant benefits to you as a donor. You’ll be able to claim a charitable income tax deduction for the fair-market value of the securities as of the date of the gift and eliminate capital gains.
To electronically transfer publicly traded securities, please notify the Development team at 646.723.7020 ext. 2108 or [email protected], in advance and provide the following information:
